Highlights of the DGZfP Subcommittee Phased Array Meeting in Lingen, Germany
On October 17, 2023, the DGZfP (The German Society for Non-Destructive Testing) Phased Array Subcommittee held an extremely productive meeting in Lingen, Germany, where we saw important progress and discussions. Here are the highlights of the meeting:
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Hans Rieder of Saarbrücken, Germany, announced that after an impressive tenure, he was relinquishing his chairmanship to his vice-chairman, Andreas Mück, Head of Business Unit Ultrasonic Transducers at SONOTEC. These changes at the top allow us to look back on the considerable achievements during Hans Rieder‘s tenure. In particular, the manual for material testing with phased arrays, which was significantly advanced under his leadership, deserves our recognition and thanks. We would like to acknowledge Mr. Rieder for his dedicated work so far and the entire subcommittee group for their support.
Another important item on our agenda was the UAPA‘s statement on the DGZfP‘s guideline US3 “Ultrasonic inspection of the surface area near the transducer”. It was time to revise many of the terms and references in this guideline to ensure that they reflect current standards. The lively discussions showed the high level of commitment of our members to this important process.
Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Roman Koch and the ROSEN Group for the great hosting of the meeting. Their hospitality made this event a success.
We are excited to continue our work in the DGZfP Phased Array Subcommittee and look forward to achieving further milestones together.
