SONOTEC presents extended non-contact flow meter series at Interphex
After successfully launching the SONOFLOW® CO.55 V3.0 flow meter last year, SONOTEC presents new sensor sizes to cover a wider range of biopharmaceutical applications. Designed especially for bioprocessing, the new flow meter series sets a new standard in non-contact flow measurement.
At Interphex, taking place from 25th to 27th April 2023 in New York, ultrasonic specialist SONOTEC presents further sizes of its high accuracy clamp-on flow meter SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0. By adjusting the measurement channel architecture particularly for bioprocessing tubing, the new sensor generation combines superior measurement accuracy and excellent clamp-to-clamp repeatability.
Outstanding measurement accuracy
Developed also with the focus on low flow applications, the SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 series offers significant improvements for the accuracy at flow rates lower than 40 mL/min. Extensive testing approved that the ultrasonic sensor achieves an accuracy of 1% and better at lowest flow rates. With its outstanding accuracy of 1% and an excellent standard deviation of only ± 2% at 10 mL/min, SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 underlines its strength in low flow measurement.
“Considering the growing market of micro-bioreactors, perfusion, as well as cell & gene therapy applications in the biopharmaceutical industry, we focused in our development for the new non-contact sensor SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 on a significant improvement of the measurement accuracy in the low flow ranges. A number of comparison tests impressively show that the next generation flow meter is significantly more accurate than the previous sensor by a factor of 2 considering the testing with 2.5 mL/min”, says Nico Polley, Product Manager for the non-contact clamp-on flow meter series SONOFLOW CO.55 at SONOTEC GmbH.
Leading operability with smallest footprint
With its excellent clamp-to-clamp repeatability based on the enhanced measurement channel architecture, SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 sets a new standard on the market. Replacing single-use tubing sets has almost no effect on the measurement accuracy, which is crucial for all process steps to achieve a consistently high product quality. The clamp-on technology offers the possibility to measure and monitor flow rates on flexible tubing from the outside, eliminating any risk of contamination. The reusable non-invasive sensors can be implemented in both - single-use and hybrid environments of the bioprocessing industry, supporting corporate sustainability policies.
Thanks to its integrated electronics, the ultrasonic device can be implemented flexibly in various process settings without the need of any additional external transmitter. The SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 flow meter series is based on a unique sensor platform that currently covers six sensor sizes suitable for most common tubing applied in small- and large-scale bioprocesses.
Via RS485 interface, it is possible to monitor and control up to twelve SONOFLOW CO.55 sensors. For process controlling, the flow meters can be easily integrated into the existing PLC network architecture via the SONOTEC EtherNet/IP Gateway.
